Our Dining Room
In January 2024, my now-husband and I moved into a home in Union, KY that we absolutely adore. I wasn’t really sure what my goal for the design aesthetic was until I noticed myself really gravitating towards light and airy styles, colors, patterns, and textures. The light floors and white walls provided us with a blank canvas for a house that we’ve slowly yet surely turned into a home. Instead of using a lot of color, I went with a more muted color palette and really focused on adding texture with pops of greenery into our home. We really love the way it turned out. It feels serene, homey, and we’re so excited to grow into this space.
Our first level is an open concept plan with the kitchen, dining room, and living room all in one big room. While it was exciting to have an open-concept plan, it was equally as daunting… making sure the furniture (especially rugs!)
Since I’ve had countless friends and family ask me where I got certain items, I decided to link all of them here. Since most of this has been purchased fairly recently, my hope is that these exact items will still be available for you to purchase for your home as well! First up, the dining room!
Dining Table | Wool Rug | Rolling Upholstered Chairs | Tray | Salt Grinder | Pepper Grinder | Faux Tulip Arrangement | Travertine Coasters | Small Picture Frame | Large Picture Frame | Picture Light | Bamboo Roman Shades | Linen-Like Curtains | Blanket
As you can see, the dining “room” is right up against the living room (with kitchen on the opposite side), so I really stuck to furniture and decor pieces that I felt like flowed with the rest of the room. I wanted the room to focus on a lot of texture and didn’t want it to feel busy or chaotic. I also knew that I wanted a big dining room table that my family could all sit around and wanted the chairs to be comfortable enough that people weren’t squirming in their seats. We absolutely love the chairs. They roll which really helps since we have them sitting on a rug. This is actually my second rug in here — the first one was more of a jute-style rug, but it was too flexible and would get bunched up under the wheels of the chairs. We replaced it with a wool rug that was thick enough to avoid the bunching problem. It was a happy accident as I love this rug that I ended up with so much! If you end up getting these chairs or any that are similar, make sure you avoid rugs with any sort of movement. It needs to be really stiff!
